Fatherhood

I think I've found a few words to describe what it's like being a dad. So here goes:

There are none.

Go Cubbies!

I think she's ready. Buy her some peanuts and cracker jack. And again, thanks to Michael McNerney for providing the outfit.

It might be a little while before she sees Wrigley Field, we're still working on getting her to nap. At least in the meantime, in the early years, there is Hohokam Park about 1/2 hr away. Limited to spring time of course, but it will have to do.

Almost 8 weeks come Sunday

Little McKenzie is lifting her head a little higher every day and able to hold it still for just a second. I love her smiles, she has been amazing. I'm still trying to find the right words to describe parenthood.

after a long jam session, it was time for a rest.

It's been a little while

Little McKenzie is now about 7 weeks come Sunday. Is that right? Time seems to fly faster than ever these days. Samantha thinks Big Mac is looking a little different lately, so I thought I would post some recent pictures. I've been told that too much time has passed since the last post, so in hopes of not becoming stale, I will try to post a little more often. I hope you enjoy.

I love this last one. As you can see, she is much more alert and active. She plays with us more and more everyday, and the smiles only get bigger. I must say, life has never been so sweet.

The strangest thing

The strangest thing happened last night in the Butler household. We put McKenzie down at about 10:00pm or so thinking we had a few hours before she woke up again. We probably should have gone to bed, but we haven't really been out and felt like getting in the pool. We brought the monitor outside with us in case the little one woke up. Nothing, so we got ready for bed and fell asleep. It was about 11:30 or so. I had agreed to take the next shift, and Samantha would take the graveyard shift and the 6:00am shift so I could get ready for work. I heard McKenzie start crying, so I got up and sat on the edge of the bed so I could wake up and see the clock. 5:00 am. Let me repeat 5:00am. I was elated. That was 7 hrs of sleep for little Miss 'I sleep in 3 hr increments'. Plus, no spit up, no super dirty diaper. Amazing, absolutely incredible. She ate and went back to sleep. This has never happened. I am still in shock 4 hrs later. So the moral of this long, drawn out story is that miracles do happen. Especially when least expected. Sorry no pictures, I know they are more exciting. I just wanted to share my excitement with you, as I realize this probably won't happen again for awhile. Hope all is well.

Yes, more pics

My mom was in town with a new camera this weekend, so we took another 80 or so shots. It's hard to choose sometimes, but here are a few of my favorites at first glance. Mom, again thanks for all the help. It was the first 7+ consecutive hours of sleep we've got.

never too much love!

love it
